From Providence Journal: Burrillville power-plant proposal wins court battle over Johnston water deal

A Superior Court judge has upheld a water deal between the Town of Johnston and Invenergy that is key to the Chicago developer’s plan to build a $1-billion power plant in Burrillville. 

In a decision filed Tuesday, Judge Michael A. Silverstein, who retired last fall but continued to preside over the case, ruled that state law allows Johnston to sell some of its share of water from the Scituate Reservoir to the Clear River Energy Center, a 1,000-megawatt fossil fuel-burning power plant that would be among the largest electric generators of its kind in New England.
