Firm Assists Development Projects Prepare Applications Resulting in $280K in Brownfields Remediation Grants

The firm was recently involved in assisting two distressed properties receive $280,000 in grants from the newly-created Brownfields Remediation and Economic Development Fund. The grants are part of the program, announced in 2015, by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management designed to assist in the development and facilitation of brownsfield remediation projects.

A “site preparation grant” was awarded to East Pointe in East Providence and a “redevelopment grant” was awarded to Lippitt Mill in West Warwick. These properties were two of fourteen contaminated sites awarded funds in the first round of grants.

The Ferrucci Russo team works with cities, towns and land owners to utilize specialized Court-supervised proceedings focused on collaboratively resurrecting distressed real estate development projects. They have successfully worked through environmental issues for redevelopment projects and assisted project owners/developers seeking grants and other incentives to address environmental remediation.
