Business Litigation At Ferrucci Russo, we are known for resolving complex business disputes. We understand the legal landscape and advocate aggressively for our clients. Our successful track record spans matters such as shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, and ownership disputes with regard to limited liability companies.
Over the years, our litigators have represented clients in a wide array of industries including manufacturing, professional services, construction, waste and energy. We are admitted to litigate in all state and federal courts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Whether your matter involves a conflict in a real estate transaction, business acquisition, or business divestiture, our attorneys are focused on a timely resolution. We’re on it.
As for recent examples:
- We recently were successful in a Rhode Island Superior Court trial representing Twin River Casino in a multi-million dollar property tax challenge. The case of first impression applied the replacement cost valuation methodology to a casino. The result will save the client approximately $5M over 8 years.
- We recently resolved a shareholder litigation matter involving Paul Mitchell Cosmetology Schools located throughout the United States. The favorable out-of-court settlement in 2010 involved an action in Rhode Island Superior Court that included a number of cosmetology schools located in various states. Each school was owned by a special purpose entity. Yet, we were able to consolidate the matter to one action in Rhode Island resulting in an efficient resolution of the dispute, as opposed to several different proceedings in a number of states requiring the engagement of several law firms.
- In a complex construction arbitration for a Rhode Island based general contractor in 2010, we successfully defended a multi-million dollar surety bond claim on a major shipyard project.
- We were engaged by the Cities of Providence and East Providence to contest an LNG marine terminal that would have had an adverse impact on the waterfront development plans for those cities. We were successful in a full proceeding in front on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and, ultimately thwarted the project.
